We want stories that feature urbanity in some way, and use that setting to say something. Sound vague? Good! We want this to be an open concept.

No genre is off-limits.

We, the editors, love local stories that have something to say about the here and now. What's it like to live in Any Town, Anywhere, in 2017? We want to know. Urban life's a beautiful, twisted, terrifying piece of pie. Give us a slice.

What exactly is an urban poem, you say?

You tell us!

The beauty of poetry is there really isn't any rules. If it works, it works. Of course we want urbanity to appear in some fashion, but we're not gonna sit here and tell you how to write your poem. If you think it's good, send her in.

That mid-century Beatnik aesthetic. Hitch-hiking Kerouac-esque hicks. Crotchety Mailmen in 1970's LA. If it would make Allen Ginsberg slowly nod his head in approval, we approve.

The greatest part of living in a city is how you can walk down a street and get a little taste of pretty much everything. We aren't gonna limit things to the written word and musical notes because a city is a kaleidoscope of sights and sounds and experiences. Do you have an awesome photo you took? Or a painting? Digital creation? We want 'em!

Please email all submissions to Crookedteethlitmag@gmail.com. Include a short bio in the body of your email, approximately 50-80 words in length. Tell us who you are, where you're from, and a little about your writing history.

faq: submissions

Q1: Can anyone submit? Do I have to live in the USA? Do I have to be a certain age?

A1: We accept work from anyone and everyone, anywhere in the world, of any age.

Q2: How many pieces can I submit?

A2: Technically, we don't have a limit on how many pieces you can submit. However, our editors will let you in on a secret: the sweet spot for fiction/prose is 1-2 pieces, for poetry it's 3 poems, for music it's one song, and for visual art it's literally as many pieces as you want to submit.

Q3: When will I find out if my piece has been accepted or not?

A3: We will send you an email about the status of your piece(s) about two weeks after the deadline. Currently, the deadline for the third issue is Friday, November  24, 2017.

Q4: Do you accept work that's previously been published?

A4: Yes! As long as you have the rights to it, send it in.
